Dining

With its round tables, bowls brimming with fresh fruit, and views of the Pacific Ocean, the Raymond Commons is a welcoming place to eat, meet up with friends and faculty, and take a break. In the cold weather, students will often find a fire burning in the hearth and hot chocolate to warm them up.

The food is delicious, with an emphasis on local, organic produce, and there are always enough choices for students to find just what they’re after. At breakfast the kitchen staff puts out a spread of hot meals, cereals and the waffle bar, complete with fresh waffles, fruit, syrup and whipped cream. There is always a salad and sandwich bar at lunch, as well as hot entrées. Dinner menus are varied to try to please a variety of tastes—Mexican night, “breakfast for dinner,” Italian—there’s always something good to eat.

The School meets once a week for a sit-down dinner. The Commons takes on an elegant tone on Thursday nights after the weekly Convocation, when the entire faculty and staff gather with students for quiet conversation over a more slow-paced meal. Younger students take turns serving as waiters, and seating assignments vary throughout the year to give everyone the chance to engage a cross-section of the community.
