Convocations

On Thursday evenings, the Cate community comes together in the Hitchcock Theatre or Katharine Thayer Cate Memorial Chapel for weekly convocations, which feature a variety of student performances as well as outside lecturers and artists. In recent years, students have performed as fiddlers, flamenco dancers and opera singers. They have entertained their teachers and fellow students as members of the Jazz Ensemble, rock bands and an improvisational theater company. Other convocations have featured a reenactment of the Japanese internment camp experience and a moving talk by a friend of Anne Frank. Annual favorites include visiting storytellers, writers, dance troupes and an ever-popular hypnotist.
